NFL Kickoff is here
My previous Football Blog is now here in my combined all sports blog so here we go with this season's NFL Predictions.:
AFC
AFC East:
This division will again be New England's to lose...consistency will be needed to bypass them.
New England
The Pats will be pretty much the same this season, there will be health concerns, they will surprise people at times both in a good and bad way and they will be once again running back by committee.
Time is running short for Tom Brady but he will only be able to carry this team so far.
Record: 9-7
Miami
After a strong start last season the 'Fins faded...came back to life but finished just out of the playoffs.... this season to take the it too the next level...consistency!!
Record: 9-7
NY Jets
If nothing else, the Jets aren't afraid to shake things up and this season it will be interesting to see what develops on the offensive side of the ball. This could be one of those Jets surprise seasons though and the record could be the reverse of my prediction.
Record: 6-10
Buffalo
There may be improvement but not quite make the playoffs type of improvement.
Record: 4-12
AFC North:
Looks as though Cincy is slightly more stable than the rest again, Baltimore will contend as will Pittsburgh at stages but overall Cincy should win the division. Oh, Cleveland....not just yet.
Cincinnati
Could be danger spots in the schedule but overall Bengals will survive.
Record: 10-6
Pittsburgh
Miss the playoffs two years in a row? Hmm...could rest with the defense.
Record: 9-7
Baltimore
Not really sure here.
Record: 8-8
Cleveland
May be slightly better but long way to go ... record may not show improvement.
Record: 4-12
AFC South:
Could be an exciting division this season, the Colts are still prone to one game collapses, the Titans have re-tooled a little and the Texans will be better this year. Only Jacksonville is out of the playoff picture in this division.
Indianapolis
The Colts will probably be around the 10-12 win mark again which should get them the division title.
Record: 11-5
Houston
The defense will be hard to deal with in Houston whereas the offense will need to lift their game from last season. A lot depends on how much Arian Foster has left more than how the passing game will go.
Record: 11-5
Tennessee
The Titans showed promise at times but also looked horrid at stages. This season, expect ,ore of the same pretty much.
Record: 6-10
Jacksonville
There's work to be done here!!
Record: 2-14
AFC West
While Denver seems to be the on paper favourites for another trip to the Super Bowl, San Diego and Kansas City will be looking for signs of weakness, do not be at all surprised if three playoff teams come out of this division again.
Denver
Denver will go as far as Peyton's neck will carry them....the team could be made or broken by their rematch with Seattle in Week 3.
Record: 12-4
Kansas City
Another solid all-around Andy Reid team but still an Andy Reid team, enough said.
Record: 10-6
San Diego
Of course I'm going to be a bit biased here being a Bolts fan!! Hopefully another positive step will be taken this season. The key will be to get production from the running game to balance the passing attack.
Record: 9-7
Oakland
The building process has started so do not expect heaps from the Silver & Black this season.
Record: 3-13
AFC Division Winners:
New England, Cincy, Indy and Denver
Wildcards:
Kansas City, Houston
AFC Champions:
In spite of everything I've written...somehow or another....New England
NFC
NFC East
At some stage of the season, every team in this division will look like a world beater and at other times they could be mistaken for rebuilding projects. The division winner here will not have much more than a 9-7 or 8-8 record.
Philadelphia
The most stable team of the bunch though more opponents will be prepared for the Eagle offense this season.
Record: 8-8
Dallas
On paper not a bad football team but there are other factors at play here! How soon before Super Jerry tries to become Coach/GM/Guru/Expert and send the team into disillusion!
Record: 5-11
Washington
The old coach is gone but was he the total problem? Will the owner keep out of team affairs...what will the QB's attitude be?? Is there dissension among the ranks?? throw in DeSean Jackson!!!
Record: 8-8
NY Giants
The Giants have been under the radar with this bunch...could be another Giants out of nowhere season?
Record: 8-8
NFC North
Hmm...let's see...the Packers will be OK but not world beaters, the Bears still have the asset/liability of Cutler at QB....the Lions need to live up to their potential....questions abound.
Detroit
The Lions are solid and if they just live up to their billing and Mr Suh keeps out of trouble, this could be your division winning team.
Record: 10-6
Chicago
Scary receiving corps but can Cutler be consistent and injury free??
Record: 9-7
Green Bay
The Packers will score points as usual but how will their defense be? How much does Julius Peppers have left?
Record: 9-7
Minnesota
Though they may improve, the Vikings can only go so far in this division.
Record: 3-13
NFC South
The Falcons will be better, the Saints are looking to go beyond last season, Carolina is very dangerous and no one will really want to face Tampa Bay when they are on. Could be fun!
New Orleans
Brees and crew will be playoff bound.
Record: 11-5
Tampa Bay
More NBA prototype receivers here with Jackson and new addition Evans. Production from QB's will be the key.
Record: 9-7
Carolina
A talented team that will not surprise as many people this season.
Record: 9-7
Atlanta
Will be better and keep the rest of the division on their toes.
Record: 8-8
NFC West
The surprise of this division could be the St. Louis Rams, although the rest of the division will be bruising for other teams on their schedules.
St. Louis
Solid defense and steady offense will keep them in contention.
Record: 8-8
San Francisco
'Niners will always contend and will most likely battle the Seahawks for the division title.
Record: 11-5
Seattle
Will contend once again...and this year...they should again be imposing on the defensive side of the field.
Record: 11-5
Arizona
With Sam Bradford out for the season again, the Cardinals should be slightly ahead of the Rams in the pecking order for this division but maybe not.
Record: 7-9
Division Winners:
Philadelphia, Detroit, New Orleans, Seattle
Wildcards:
Carolina, San Francisco
NFC Champions:
Seattle
Super Bowl Winners:
Repeat!! Seattle Seahawks!!
OK, enjoy the season folks...look forward to checking in!!!
