Let the games begin

Dancing Days are here again !

March is upon us and the "Madness" will manifest itself fully over the next few days!!

This season, I have resolved myself to a bit less madness in that I will only do one bracket for all purposes!! So that will be done in time for the field of sixty four games.

The action kicks off in Dayton on Tuesday (early Wednesday morning Aussie time) when Hampton squares off against Manhattan for the right to face Kentucky in Louisville!! In the nightcap, Brigham Young ... who could be a spoiler this year will battle Ole Miss with the winner advancing to play Xavier.

A quick look at the matchups:

Hampton (16-17) vs Manhattan (19-13)

Both teams, Hampton more-so than Manhattan, swept through their conference tournaments to continue their season.

Manhattan started the 2014-2015 season with higher expectations than a third place finish in the MAAC but came good in time to win the conference tourney. They should get by Hampton before being led to slaughter on Thursday!!

BYU (25-9) vs Ole Miss (20-12)

BYU finished runner ups to Gonzaga in both the regular season and West Coast Conference tournament. Going in the Cougars are the fashionable tip to cause trouble in the main draw. Ole Miss meanwhile finished mid pack in the SEC and some feel may not have been bid worthy so the Rebels may have the proverbial chip on shoulder in Dayton. In the end though, BYU may outlast Ole Miss to move on.

I have also been avidly following Bellarmine University in the Division II bracket so wish them luck and tip them to beat the University of Indianapolis by 10 in their regional tilt on Tuesday night.
